University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to expand its international business. Even though it already cooperates with several universities in Turkey, UMM always adds to and develops the collaboration that has been established.

Friday (11/10/2024) at White Campus UMM, the consulate general of RI in Istanbul Darianto Harsono discussed the cooperation plan between UMM and several universities in the work area of KJRI Istanbul. On that occasion, in addition to providing the overview and socialization related to education, Darsono also conveyed several things related to the economy, society, and culture in Turkey, as well as various information about superior accredited in Istanbul Turkey.

“The age of the consulate general of RI is said to be still young, 11 years old or established since 2013. The existence of diplomacy between Indonesia and Turkey since 1950 makes the relationship between these two countries very close like siblings. So, the field of education is also something that can be collaborated.

Nowadays, cooperation culture diplomacy with universities is already quite a lot. There are about 700 Indonesian students from various backgrounds who come to Turkey. So, the party must be able to direct them to study whereby cooperation in which region. Therefore, Darsono and the team give a long list of universities in Istanbul and its surroundings that are superior accredited by KJRI.

“Therefore, students from Indonesia will not enter a university whose location and accreditation are not obvious. Currently, many agents offer tuition abroad but turns out they are scammers.”

Meanwhile, the vice-rector IV of UMM said that internationalization activities in UMM continue to increase. For example, through guest lecture activities by inviting speakers from abroad, sending the lecturer and students abroad, and also preparing the international class.

UMM also gives the target to some departments, like communication science, management, and international relations to open the international class. All of this is done to accommodate the interest of international students to study at UMM. Moreover, the number of registrants from abroad also increases every year.

“Universities in Turkey have big potential to be invited to collaborate and cooperate since their position is strong in every sector. Turkey has an easy opportunity to enter because they always open with other countries, especially moslem countries. So no wonder why Turkey always opens scholarships for foreign citizens.” The concluded.
