Community service in the field of law is aimed at advocating for justice and empowering communities through legal knowledge. UMM recognizes that law plays a vital role in creating a just and civilized society, so various service programs in this field are designed to bring justice closer to the community, especially those who are underserved.
One of UMM's flagship programs in the field of law is the Legal Clinic. Through this clinic, lecturers and students from UMM’s Faculty of Law provide free legal consultation and assistance to those in need. The Legal Clinic plays an essential role in supporting community members facing various legal issues, such as civil, criminal, and land disputes. Under the guidance of experienced lecturers, students have the opportunity to engage directly in real cases, applying legal theory in practice.
In addition, UMM has developed a community legal education program to raise legal awareness, especially in remote areas. Through legal outreach, UMM helps communities understand their rights and obligations under the law, as well as methods for legally resolving disputes. This program has had a positive impact, particularly in preventing conflicts that arise from limited knowledge of legal rules and norms.
UMM is also active in policy advocacy programs that promote the public interest. Through legal research conducted by faculty and students, UMM contributes to the formulation of policies that are fairer and align with social justice principles.
