Social Field

Community service in the social field carried out by Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is part of the university's efforts to directly contribute to societal progress, particularly in social and humanitarian aspects. Through various community service programs, UMM seeks to bridge academic knowledge with real-world social practice, aiming to improve social welfare and empower communities.

UMM's social community service activities involve lecturers, students, and experts collaborating to implement programs designed to address the social challenges faced by society. Some forms of social service at UMM include community empowerment through education and training, community development, and programs aimed at strengthening social solidarity and inclusion. For instance, UMM frequently conducts skill training activities for vulnerable groups such as street children, people with disabilities, and low-income communities to help them develop skills that can improve their living standards through various study centers and service initiatives led by UMM lecturers.

In addition, UMM is also involved in programs focused on women’s empowerment through LP3A, poverty alleviation, and community capacity building. These programs are often based on social research conducted by the university to ensure that the interventions are truly effective and relevant to the needs of the community.

Through social service, UMM also provides students with the opportunity to learn and engage directly with the community. Students can apply the social theories they have learned in the classroom to real-world situations, while also developing their empathy, communication skills, and leadership abilities. This social service aligns with UMM's vision as a university that not only prioritizes academic excellence but also upholds social and moral responsibility in contributing to the creation of a more just, prosperous, and dignified society.
