Technology Field

Community service in the field of technology conducted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is a strategic effort by the university to address contemporary challenges, focusing on empowering communities through innovation and the application of technology. Through various service programs, UMM seeks to bridge technological research with real-world needs, empowering local communities with appropriate technological solutions.

One of UMM’s flagship initiatives in technology is the development and application of information and communication technology (ICT) within communities. In collaboration with local government and community groups, UMM provides basic and advanced technology training specifically designed to improve digital literacy. This program has empowered many community groups, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to leverage digital platforms to expand their market reach.

Furthermore, UMM has developed a service initiative focusing on environmentally friendly technology applications. A notable example of success is the implementation of biogas technology in villages around Malang. By utilizing organic waste from livestock farms, UMM assists local communities in producing renewable, cost-effective, and eco-friendly energy. This program not only reduces dependence on fossil fuels but also enhances community quality of life by providing a more efficient energy source.

UMM is also actively engaged in developing appropriate technology to meet agricultural needs. Through the development of simple, technology-based agricultural tools, UMM supports local farmers in increasing productivity and efficiency. This has had a significant impact on improving crop yields and farmers' incomes.

Through its technology-focused community service programs, UMM demonstrates its commitment to promoting innovation and the application of technology for societal well-being. These programs offer not only practical benefits but also foster a culture of innovation and technological independence within communities.
