(Tuesday, November 12, 2024), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a meeting with the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of East Java. This visit aims to sign an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between UMM and Bawaslu East Java, which is expected to make a significant contribution to both parties, including student internships, guest lectures, scientific journal writing, and multimedia works.
Bawaslu East Java said that it has 22 strategic partners including UMM. In this collaboration, the internship program will be implemented with a wave system, as well as the placement of students in divisions that are in accordance with their study programs. For lecturers, community service opportunities at Bawaslu will be present in the form of legal drafting and handling of election problems.
Bawaslu hopes for intense collaboration in the field of CoE (Center of Excellence) and curriculum at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) and Faculty of Law (FH). Through this collaboration, it is hoped that it can increase the active participation of UMM students in the electoral process, thus creating democratic institutions that are fair, peaceful and inclusive.
A. Warits as Head of Bawaslu East Java, Wesly Simangunsonga as Head of Supervision Section, Eka Rahmawati and Dewita Hayu Shinta from the Legal Section of Bawaslu, also attended the event. Muhamad Salis Yuniardi as Vice-Rector IV UMM, Salahudin as Head of the RPK Bureau, and M. Fath Mashuri as Head of Cooperation from UMM, were also present to facilitate the discussion and signing of the MoU.
