University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) through the Center for Islamic Studies and Philosophy continues to strive to build communication with all parties at the global level which is directed to strengthen international cooperation. On Friday, May 31, 2024, PSIF held an online meeting with Professor Mun'im Sarry who is one of the Professors at Rotterdam University, America. The meeting discussed about cooperation plans in the fields of research, publication, visiting professor, and student mobility. Professor Mun'im Sarry assessed that UMM is a leading private university and has contributed a lot to the development of education in Indonesia. Mun'im Sarry also explained that Rotterdam University is a well-known university in America, especially in the field of theology studies. "Rotterdam University is a leading university in America, especially in the field of theology". UMM will build cooperation and collaboration in research in the field of theology, including the study of religious cultural diversity, toleration, moderation, relationship between state and religion. He continued, "Research in the field of theology becomes the central theme of research cooperation between UMM and Rotterdam University".
At the meeting, Professor Syamsul Arifin was also present, who is a Professor of Religious Sociology at UMM. Prof. Syamsul assessed that this cooperation plan is very strategic to build and strengthen international cooperation. Besides, this cooperation will have an impact on the formation of a good academic culture, research is also more quality, and has a wide impact on the global level. "Prof. Mun'im A. Sirry has produced many scientific works both in the form of books and scientific journals. Research collaboration between Prof. Mun'im and UMM lecturers will have a good impact on the research culture and publication at UMM", he explained optimistically.
Representing Vice-Rector IV UMM, Head of Research, Dedication, and Cooperation Bureau, Dr. Salahudin, responded well to the cooperation plan that will be built. Research cooperation on the global level must continue to be improved by all UMM stakeholders, especially by all study centers within the UMM scope. Dr. Salahudin emphasized that research work needs to be carried out sustainably supported by other academic activities such as scientific publications, visiting professors, guest lecturers, and student mobility. "All international cooperation activities are directed to the productivity of lecturers which has an impact on the internationalization performance of UMM", he said.
