University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), July 17, 2024, at GKB 4 1st floor - The Internal Proposal Writing Enrichment Workshop was officially opened today, marking the strong commitment of universities to advancing a culture of research and innovation. The event was organized by Vice-Rector IV, Bureau of Research, Service & Cooperation and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), which was attended by Vice-Rector IV, Chair of LPPM, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and lecturers from various disciplines.
In his speech, Vice-Rector IV, Muhamad Salis Yuniardi M.Psi, PhD., emphasized the importance of increasing interdisciplinarity in research. He encouraged the formation of research groups and cooperation between lecturers from various fields of science to produce more innovative and impactful research.
The Head of LPPM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sutawi M.P., added that nowadays, universities must have clear targets for research quality and quantity to realize their aspirations as independent private universities. According to him, research should continue beyond the proposal stage but must produce measurable outputs, such as publications in international journals. This is one of the critical points to achieving a professorship.
On his occasion, the Dean of FISIP, Prof. Dr. Muslimin M.Si., conveyed the importance of familiarizing a research culture for lecturers. He encouraged lecturers to classify their research according to their respective fields of science and maximize opportunities to get funding from government programs.
This workshop is expected to improve the quality of proposals submitted by lecturers, thus increasing their chances of getting grants and producing quality research. In addition, this workshop is also expected to trigger collaboration between lecturers from various disciplines and advance the research culture in higher education as a whole.
